The slab pour is the most important day in a house build. Check these before the concrete arrives.
- Drawings: the latest structural drawing is on site.
- Shuttering: firm, level, tight at joints, props braced.
- Reinforcement: diameter and spacing match the drawing, with correct laps and extra bars at supports.
- Cover: cover blocks keep steel off the shuttering.
- Cleanliness: no binding wire pieces, sawdust or loose material.
- Services: conduits and sleeves fixed and not cutting main bars.
- Concrete: specified grade, with cube samples taken.
- Compaction and levels: vibrators ready; level pegs for thickness.
- Curing plan: arrangements to keep the slab wet after casting.
